Common questions about Industry Portal
What is the Industry Portal and what does it do?
MyPass’s Industry Portal is a workforce compliance platform for operators, asset owners, and service providers managing contractor workforces. It gives you real-time visibility into the compliance status of every worker across your sites, contractors, and projects, pulling directly from verified worker Skills Passports rather than relying on contractor self-reporting or spreadsheet updates.
It replaces the trust-based model (contractors tell you their workers are compliant) with verified assurance (you can see for yourself, in real time, without adding work for your contractors).
Is Industry Portal only for large operations with hundreds of contractors?
No. Industry Portal scales from 10 contractors on a single site to 300 contractors across multiple facilities. The dashboard, compliance tracking, and automated alerts work the same regardless of workforce size. Pricing is sized to your operation.
The platform is used by single-site operators running targeted shutdowns and by multi-site asset owners managing ongoing contractor panels. The underlying architecture is the same. What changes is the volume of workers and sites you're looking across.
How is Industry Portal different from our existing contractor management system?
Most contractor management systems store the information contractors give you. Industry Portal connects directly to verified worker Skills Passports, so what you see reflects credentials confirmed against issuing authorities, not documents that workers or contractors have self-reported.
The practical difference: your existing system can tell you a worker uploaded a high-voltage licence. Industry Portal can tell you that licence is current, valid, and belongs to that specific worker. It also flags compliance gaps automatically and tracks expiries before they become access issues, rather than after.
How does Industry Portal connect to Skills Passports?
Industry Portal is the employer-facing layer that reads from worker Skills Passports. Workers build and own their Skills Passport. When a worker grants access to your organisation, their verified credential data flows into your Industry Portal dashboard in real time.
This means you are not storing or maintaining worker PII directly. Workers control what you can see and for how long. When a worker's engagement ends and they revoke access, their data is no longer visible in your portal. The architecture reduces your cyber liability compared to traditional models where employers hold and maintain copies of worker documents.
Can we track our subcontractors' workforce through Industry Portal?
Yes. Industry Portal gives you visibility into your entire contractor supply chain, including subcontractors engaged by your primary contractors. You can see compliance status across multiple tiers of your workforce, not just direct employees or tier-one contractors.
This addresses one of the most common compliance blind spots in complex projects: a tier-two subcontractor worker arriving on site whose credentials your primary contractor has not verified or whose qualifications have since lapsed.
Does Industry Portal work in remote locations with limited connectivity?
Industry Portal is a web-based platform that requires an internet connection for the compliance dashboard and reporting functions. For field verification, supervisors scan worker QR codes via mobile browser, which also requires connectivity at the point of scan.
Workers can display their Skills Passport credentials offline via the mobile app once loaded. For sites with no connectivity at all, MyPass recommends discussing site-specific access control integration options with the implementation team during onboarding.
How does Industry Portal handle different compliance requirements across sites?
You build separate competency matrices for each site, role, or project within Industry Portal. A worker who meets the compliance requirements for Site A is automatically checked against the requirements for Site B when assigned there. Gaps are flagged immediately rather than discovered at the gate.
This means your compliance standard is defined centrally and enforced consistently, without relying on individual site administrators to manually check whether each worker meets each site's specific requirements.
What happens when a worker's qualification expires?
Workers receive automated reminders at 90, 60, and 30 days before a qualification expires. Your Industry Portal dashboard reflects the updated status as soon as a renewed document is uploaded and verified. If a qualification lapses without renewal, the worker is flagged as non-compliant in your dashboard automatically.
You are not dependent on a contractor calling you to flag the issue, or on a site administrator catching it during a manual records check. The system identifies it and surfaces it to whoever in your team needs to act.
What reports can we generate from Industry Portal?
Industry Portal generates compliance reports across any combination of site, project, contractor, role, credential type, and time period. Reports include current compliance status across your workforce, historical audit trails showing who was compliant on a specific date, credential gap analysis by role or site, contractor performance benchmarking across your panel, and expiry forecasts for upcoming qualification lapses.
Reports are exportable and formatted to meet the requirements of Australian regulatory bodies and client audit requests. Rob, a General Manager at an integrated services company, noted that a spot audit of worker compliance on site would have resulted in failure before deploying MyPass.
Is our data secure in Industry Portal?
MyPass is ISO 27001 certified, the international standard for information security management. Worker data is controlled by the workers themselves, not stored by employers or MyPass. Employers access shared verified data for the duration of a worker's engagement. When access is revoked, the data is no longer visible.
The worker-controlled model reduces employer cyber liability compared to traditional contractor management systems where employers hold and maintain copies of worker PII. MyPass's Trust Centre at trust.mypassglobal.com documents the full security posture, certifications, and data handling practices.
How long does Industry Portal implementation take?
Implementation typically follows five stages: discovery and requirements gathering, portal setup and user configuration, contractor engagement and communications, go-live with active support, and ongoing operations. For most organisations, initial deployment is complete within weeks rather than months, with complexity determined primarily by the number of sites, contractor companies, and integration requirements.
MyPass provides a dedicated customer success team throughout implementation and 24/7 support post go-live. The implementation timeline for your operation is mapped during the discovery phase before any configuration begins.
Can service providers use Industry Portal, or is it only for asset owners?
Both. Asset owners and operators use Industry Portal to manage contractor access, verify workforce compliance across sites, and meet duty-of-care obligations. Service providers use it to manage their own workforce, match workers to client role requirements, respond to resource requests faster, and demonstrate compliance readiness to operator clients.
The dashboard views and features available are configured to the user's role. A service provider mobilisation team sees their deployable workforce pool and project assignments. An asset owner compliance manager sees contractor panel compliance status and site access dashboards. Both draw from the same underlying verified data.
